Botox Dermal Fillers London

Understanding Dermal Fillers

Your skin naturally contains hyaluronic acid, but as you age it's lost from your skin and less is produced, leading to reduced volume and elasticity, dehydration and the appearance of wrinkles. This beneficial substance is found in the quality cosmetic fillers that we use at our Dermadoc cosmetic clinics in London. The hyaluronic acid in our fillers not only adds volume to your skin, but it also hydrates your skin and boosts collagen production. As a result it enhances your skin, offering a more youthful appearance.

During cheek or lip enhancement, or a similar procedure, the cosmetic filler is injected with the aid of a fine needle, which plumps up sunken or wrinkled areas of skin. Not only that, but it encourages the production of new collagen, which supports the elasticity of your skin. Treatment is usually complete within 20-30 minutes and you can appreciate the difference in your skin immediately. While the results are extremely pleasing, they are only temporary, so repeat use of fillers is required to maintain the appearance of your skin; while the results may last for a year or more, this does vary between treatments and from person to person. However, with more than a hundred brands of hyaluronic acid filler available, not all fillers for use in corrective and enhancement procedures are the same. Thicker fillers offer longer lasting results, though their price does reflect this and they are not suitable for all procedures.

Dermal Fillers Used at Dermadoc

Besides those based on hyaluronic acid, such as the range of Juvederm fillers, others are based on calcium; Radiesse is one example. These calcium based fillers are useful for facial sculpting and to fill deeper lines; they are also beneficial when enhancing particularly sunken cheeks. The fillers based on calcium have the other advantage that the results last for longer than when hyaluronic acid fillers are used, but the results are still only temporary. However, both of these temporary fillers are a far safer option than the permanent fillers, as complications are much rarer, which is why at our London cosmetic clinics we only use these modern, temporary fillers; we always place your safety first.

The fillers used in our procedures are FDA approved, which means they have passed strict tests to confirm their reliability and safety. As we are very selective of the products we use, only five fillers are used in cosmetic treatments at Dermadoc; Juvederm, Belotero, Restylane and Perlane are all hyaluronic based, while Radiesse, as mentioned, is calcium based. Your doctor will explain which is best for your procedure, so the filler you receive may vary between chin enhancement, nose job, wrinkle or scar removal.

Dermal Filler Side-effects

The after effects of dermal filler use is rarely more than a small amount of redness and swelling, which are temporary, and sometimes this may be accompanied by a little bruising. This is good news if you want to continue with your day as normal after receiving a cosmetic treatment that requires a filler. As we only use quality fillers at Dermadoc, adverse effects are very rare, and all our doctors have the necessary training and skills to administer the injections in such ways as to minimise the risk of problems. However, if you have particular concerns about the risks of lip, cheek, chin or wrinkle fillers, you can discuss these at your pre-consultation, to make sure that you have all the information needed to make a balanced decision about undergoing treatment.

If the level of pain associated with treatment using fillers is a concern for you, it is reassuring to know that significant pain is not inevitable. While sensitive areas such as your lips are more susceptible to pain, local anesthetic within Juvederm fillers and application of medicated cream both help to numb the area.

If you are considering any of the cosmetic procedures that involve dermal filler, phone now to make an appointment at one of our London clinics.
