A single session of laser hair removal can take anything from five minutes to an hour. It depends on the size of the area being treated and how densely the hair is growing there. However, one treatment won’t be enough for permanent results. You’ll need to come back to the London clinic to ensure that every hair follicle is destroyed.
How Many Sessions Do You Need?
Laser hair removal only works on hair that is in the growth phase of its cycle. Since some of your hairs are resting while others are growing, it takes multiple sessions to catch every hair in the right phase. It usually takes between 6 and 10 sessions at our clinic in London. The number you need depends on where the hair is growing, its colour, and how thick and dense it is. You will usually see results in just a couple of sessions, but it is important to complete the whole course of treatment if you want to eliminate every hair. Even then, it is still possible for some new hairs to develop in the same area in the future.
How Long Should You Wait Between Laser Treatments?
Since we need to wait for more hair to enter the growth phase before we can treat them, we will usually advise waiting between 4 and 10 weeks between treatment sessions in London. The amount of time you need to wait depends on how quickly your hair grows. The location of the hair can be a good guide to this, although there will be some individual variation. You’ll usually need to wait between 4-5 weeks for facial hair removal, 7-8 weeks for underarm or bikini line hair, and 8-10 weeks for hair elsewhere on the body.
It is important to be patient and to follow your doctor’s recommendations. Laser hair removal takes time, but the results will last even longer.
