What is Botox?
Botox is a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkles in your skin which enables muscles to create a revitalised and youthful appearance. The common trade name for botox is botulinum toxin. Botox is a prescription only medicine and treatment can only be administered by a medical professional. In addition to cosmetic benefit, botox treatment can be used to treat writer’s cramp, excessive sweating, chronic pain, and neuropathy and migrane headaches.
Who Will administer the Botox treatment?
At Dermadoc, we pride ourselves for being a doctor-led clinic. All of our doctors at Dermadoc have been trained by world class medical professionals. Our doctors are continuously developing and acquiring advanced techniques and are kept up to date with the latest cosmetic treatments through regular training at International Cosmetic Conferences. Dermadoc cosmetic clinic is one of the leading clinics in London and the founding medical director of Dermadoc, Dr Tukmachi has earned himself an international recognition in the Cosmetic Industry.
How does the treatment work?
The treatment usually takes a few minutes to perform. The botox is injected into the muscle using a fine needle in order to minimise discomfort and maximise accuracy. Once the botox is injected it automatically blocks the nerve impulses which enable the muscles to relax. As the muscles are relaxed, the wrinkles also relax and soften. Since the treatment only relaxes the muscle beneath the line at the injection site, it has no effect on other elements of facial expression. It has no effect on one's sensory system and therefore sensation is never affected.
How Long does the botox treatment last?
The botox treatment usually lasts between four to six months. It differs from patient to patient. The botox treatment usually takes between 8 -10 days to take its full effect. At Dermadoc, we offer a complimentary top-up after two weeks of having your treatment
Botox® injections are one of the most effective and popular treatments for smoothing of wrinkles.
