These are Botox injections which help in relaxing muscles on the forehead to reduce the horizontal lines and wrinkles.
Following a discussion with the Doctor about your aims and requirements, the Doctor will cleanse the forehead using an antiseptic solution. The doctor will then inject a small amount of Botox into the skin of the forehead using a fine needle and technique to minimise any discomfort.
As the needle is extremely fine there will be minimal pain throughout the procedure and the area is usually numbed with a cream and some ice. If you are needle-phobic then you can discuss this with the doctor for further reassurance.
The whole consultation and treatment shouldn't take longer than 10-15 minutes.
It will take on average between 3-7 days for the Botox to start showing an effect around the eyes and upto 2 weeks to reach its potential. We always advise to come back for your follow up appointment in case you require a free top-up.
This can vary from person to person however on average we have noted that it lasts around 4 months. We do usually give a range between 3-6 months as an indicator.
Many people worry about this but for your reassurance, the most common scenario is that you will notice some very mild swelling and redness at the injection points on the forehead which will settle down within the 45 minutes post-treatment. Most people return straight back to work after having the Botox injections.
At Dermadoc we always advise to have your treatment 2 weeks before your major event so that you allow enough time for the Botox to start working.
Yes you can travel and fly straight after the treatment.
Common side effects can be temporary redness and swelling which usually settles within minutes post-procedure. Others can include temporary headache, bruising and slight discomfort at the injection points.Other uncommon side effects can be discussed with your doctor and for your reassurance are extremely rare.
Your treatment will be carried out by Dr Tukmachi (a UK medical graduate and specialist in cosmetic medicine) or a doctor from his team.
Treatment of the forehead area is usually considered as 1 area at the cost of £150. However it is advised to have both frown and forehead lines treated together to give an optimum result. You can discuss this with the Doctor.
